2010 Golden Pineapple Awards Honor Local Tourism Leaders For Dedicated Service


The Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CACVB) honored seven members of the local hospitality industry at the Travel Council Annual Meeting on Monday, June 7, 2010. Hundreds of attendees gathered at the Charleston Area Convention Center Complex to applaud the winners and listen to keynote speaker Wendy Perrin, consumer news editor of Conde’ Nast Traveler magazine. Since the CACVB’s inception in 1985, the Golden Pineapple Awards have recognized individuals who promote positive growth of tourism, the Charleston area’s largest industry.

2010 Golden Pineapple Award Winners
SC Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell received the Barrett Lawrimore Tourism Leadership award for his outstanding advocacy and governmental leadership on tourism issues.

Bob Moran (Family Circle Cup) was honored for ten years leadership in local sports entertainment; Moran and his staff helped Family Circle Cup become one of the Charleston area’s premier annual sporting events.

John Brumgardt (Charleston Museum) was honored for his leadership in the creation, branding and marketing of Charleston’s Museum Mile.

Kelly Pickhardt-Linder was honored for her instrumental role in private sector funding for destination marketing efforts, specifically her effort to protect the federal lodging per diem rate during her tenure as a board member and president of the Charleston Area Hospitality Association.

Gloria Clarke was recognized for ten years of outstanding service as a CACVB sales manager responsible for developing citywide group business.

Angelique Butler was recognized for ten years of exemplary service to the industry as the CACVB’s visitor inquiry service manager.

Marilyn Buist was recognized for ten years of exceptional service as a CACVB sales manager specializing in the destination wedding market.
