A Perfect Pair: The Heritage and Family Circle Cup Partner on Packages

02/17/2011

Two of South Carolina’s most anticipated events, the Family Circle Cup and The Heritage, join forces in 2011 to offer tennis and golf fans discounted ticket packages.

Since 2000, the Family Circle Cup and The Heritage have been scheduled on the same dates, forcing some attendees to make the difficult decision about what event to add to their social calendar.  In 2011, the two largest, recurring sporting events in South Carolina teamed up to work together.

“The Family Circle Cup has enjoyed working side-by-side with the Heritage team to provide tennis and golf fans alike, the opportunity to attend both events through creative ticket packages,” said Bob Moran, general manager of the Family Circle Cup. “These two events represent an enormous economic impact on the state of South Carolina, and bring the beauty and hospitality of the Lowcountry into the living rooms of millions of viewers worldwide.”

There’s already a lot of history between the two events.  “The Heritage and Family Circle Cup staff was actually under one roof in Hilton Head, SC, so there is a built in camaraderie between us,” said Steve Wilmot, tournament director of The Heritage.  “It’s wonderful to now be able to partner together and support each other.”

The initial response to the partnership between the events has been positive, and the ticket packages have been well received.  Stan Smith, tennis hall of famer and Wimbledon champion, commented, "As a long time Hilton Head Island resident and Heritage Board member, I know the positive economic impact The Heritage and Family Circle Cup have on the state of South Carolina.”

The Heritage and the Family Circle Cup are the perfect pair, offering two great travel destinations to experience two exciting sporting events on South Carolina’s coast.  “I’m thrilled that fans will have the ability to attend both world class events in 2011, and hopefully for years to come,” said Moran.
