Spirit Airlines Announces Non-Stop Service Between Dallas/Fort Worth and Myrtle Beach

02/02/2012

People like things big in Texas, and now America’s biggest and best golf destination will be a relatively short, non-stop flight away.

Spirit Airlines has announced the addition of new, non-stop service from Dallas-Fort Worth to Myrtle Beach beginning on May 3. The thrice weekly flights will take off on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Flights will leave DFW at 3:50 p.m. and land in Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. The return flight will depart Myrtle Beach at 8:10 p.m. and arrive back in Dallas at 10:15 p.m., giving golfers a chance to play as many as 36 holes on getaway day.

To celebrate the launch of the seasonal service, Spirit is offering introductory fares on the DFW to Myrtle Beach route for $28.79. The special rate is good through February 2 and must be booked on Spirit.com.

The new service is a guaranteed birdie for Dallas-Fort Worth golfers and the Myrtle Beach golf community. The greater Dallas area is the 13th largest golf market in the America, according to National Golf Foundation research, but flight service to Myrtle Beach has previously been limited.

“Dallas is one of the nation’s premier golf markets, so it’s a natural fit for Myrtle Beach,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “The addition of non-stop, low-cost flight service will open our fairways to one of the game’s hotbeds, and we can’t wait to expose Dallas area residents to the quality and value of a Myrtle Beach golf trip.”

The May 3 launch date will allow Dallas golfers to catch the end of Myrtle Beach’s popular spring season, and all of the summer season.

Dallas residents should plan to pack their golf clubs along with their beach towels as they flock to the Grand Strand this summer for a family vacation.
