The 2007-2008 season of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra will encourage you to recall your ancestors, your history, and the countless immigrants who made this country what it is today. You will become part of a celebration of our magnificent country and its vastness through music and word. “The Dream of America” takes us on a year-long musical journey with contributions from a varied selection of eras and composers who tell the tales of our forefathers.

Along with a season of these wonderful compositions, the finale, “The Dream of America”, is based on Peter Boyer’s “Ellis Island: The Dream of America”, a 45 minute work for orchestra, actors and projections which tells the story of seven immigrants who came to America from 1908-1940. Mary Woodmansee Green and the Orchestra will again bring a level of passion and quality to the Low Country that you find in many Metropolitan Performance Halls.

This year we celebrate Mary Woodmansee Green’s tenth anniversary with our orchestra. Under her guiding hands we went from a small group of classical music lovers to a highly rated symphony orchestra. Her dedication motivates the musicians and her crisp directing sets the stage for many unforgettable evenings.

A special “Thank You” to the Town of Hilton Head Island for their generous support. We also owe the First Presbyterian Church our sincere thanks for allowing us to use the church as our performance hall. Finally, our gratitude goes out to our donors, patrons, sponsors, members of the Board of Directors and staff and our orchestra musicians for making this one of the premiere organizations in the country.

We hope you enjoy the “Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra”. Please tell everyone about your experience.
